Visakhapatnam: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) unearthed more illegal assets of Tribal Welfare department executive engineer Katreddi Venkata Satya Nagesh Kumar in Visakhapatnam on Sunday.
The 55-year-old engineer was arrested on Saturday for amassing disproportionate assets.
ACB said Rs three lakh liquid cash, fixed deposits worth Rs11 lakh, shares in various firms worth Rs 1.5 lakh, gold ornaments worth Rs 22 lakh, and silver ornaments worth Rs 31,000 were detected in the bank locker in Vizag city. In all, they seized over Rs 39 lakh worth of illegal assets on Sunday.
Kumar and his family members were in possession of two house flats, nine house sites, 6.5 acres of agricultural land, two four-wheelers, gold and silver ornaments, household articles, cash, fixed deposits, and a few others worth over Rs 2.45 crore.
Preliminary investigation has revealed that Kumar's assets are 148 percent more than his known source of income. Kumar is a native of Anakapalle in the Vizag district and he entered the government service in March 1985 as a technical works inspector with Tribal Welfare Department. He worked at Vizianagaram and Srikakulam districts and rose to the position of Executive Engineer in 2017.
