Afghan student assault case: FIR registered, 2 detained at Banjara Hills

The incident occurred on February 15 when Afghan MBA student Abdul Bayas Bariz stepped out of his apartment. Two youth on a two-wheeler suddenly began questioning him. They abused him before hitting him with a blunt object. Abdul Bayas Bariz called his friend, who rushed to the scene. When he tried to intervene, he too was assaulted.
Abdul Bayas Bariz and his friend suffered minor injuries. The attackers later fled from the scene.
Abdul Bayas Bariz, 28, is pursuing MBA at JNTUH. A native of Afghanistan, he is putting up at Shabana residency of Banjara Hills along with his friend Zabiullah, who is also from Afghanistan. Abdul came to India in 2014 for higher studies.
Sub-Inspector Praveen Kumar of Banjara Hills police station said the two individuals who assaulted Afghan students have been identified as Zubair and Sameer. He said both accused are from the same locality. Police said a case has been registered under section 341, 324, 506 r/w 34 of IPC. He said both accused have been detained.
