Afzalgunj cops rescue kidnapped 4-year-old in nick of time before criminal boarded train

Hyderabad: Afzalgunj police arrested a kidnapper and rescued a four-year-old from his captivity within 12 hours of the kidnap.
The accused was identified as Shaik Rafeeq alias Rafi (35), who was living on the footpath near Osmania General Hospital. He is a native of Warangal.
Case details
The crime came to light after the mother of the child Rubeena Begum found that her child Mohd Shoheb went missing after her husband took him to Osmania General Hospital. The couple has two other children and are residents of Mangar Basti in Nampally.
On Monday morning, her husband took Shoheb to OGH for his treatment. He is an alcoholic and has been suffering from various complications. Rubeena waited for them till evening and after they didn’t return she went searching for them. She found her husband lying in the OGH waiting hall in a drunken state and Shoheb was nowhere to be seen. She searched everywhere but couldn’t find him.
Rubeena immediately approached the police and filed a missing person complaint to find her son. The Afzalgunj police station officials, including SHO G Lingeshwar Rao, DSI P Ram Kishan, crime staff HC B Srikanth, PCs Md Suleman, G Srikanth, K Vishal Kumar, Md Adil Ahmed, D Chandra Shekhar, Uday Kumar and Md Asad Quadri, started work to trace the boy’s location.
They analysed the CCTV footage from various locations including Public Garden, Nampally and Secunderabad railway stations, Indira Park, Tank Bund and all Metro stations. They also checked the isolated areas in the city and showed the boy’s photo at bus stands and railway stations.
Through the CCTV footage, the police found the boy with a person at the Dabeerpura Flyover. The police team immediately reached the spot and apprehended the accused. They were able to find the boy at the right time as the accused was at the Dabeerpura station trying to board a train along with the child.
Shoheb was returned to his family and the suspect was arrested. A case has been registered under section 137(2) of BNS.
