Air smuggling racket busted: 192 liquor bottles seized near Pahadi Shareef; valued at Rs 5.76 lakh

Hyderabad: In a major crackdown on illegal liquor transportation, the Ranga Reddy Excise Enforcement team seized 192 liquor bottles worth Rs 5.76 lakh during vehicle inspections conducted near Pahadi Shareef.
The liquor was reportedly smuggled into Telangana from Delhi, Goa and Puducherry.
Liquor smuggled via air routes
According to officials, several individuals were bringing liquor from Delhi, Goa and Puducherry through air travel and attempting to sell it illegally within Telangana.
Acting on specific intelligence, enforcement personnel conducted surprise vehicle checks at Sharif Pahad and intercepted multiple vehicles suspected of carrying contraband liquor.

Notices issued to 20 persons
During the inspection drive, officials found 20 persons in possession of liquor bottles in quantities exceeding permissible limits. Notices were issued to all those involved in the violation, said Enforcement Officer AES Jeevan Kiran.
The total value of the seized liquor was pegged at around Rs 5.76 lakh, he added.
Part of statewide special drive
The operation was carried out as part of a statewide special drive launched under the supervision of Excise Enforcement Director Shahnawaz Qasim. Assistant Commissioner R Kishan also commended the enforcement team for their coordinated efforts in the successful seizure.
