Aluminum foils to paddy husk: How Andhra contrabandists hoodwink police to smuggle ganja

By Newsmeter Network Published on 22 Jun 2022 3:21 AM GMTASR: Munchingput police busted a ganja smuggling racket and seized cannabis concealed under paddy husk in a vehicle near Labburu village in Alluri Sitarama Raju district on Tuesday. Police recovered 560 kg of dry ganja worth over Rs 20 lakh and arrested two persons. However, four ganja smugglers managed to flee the spot.
During a routine vehicle checking, Sub-Inspector R Santhosh and his team intercepted a motorcycle on Monday. The motorcyclist tried to pass information about the police check post to the driver of the ganja-laden vehicle. Police rushed to the spot and seized a ganja-laden vehicle and nabbed the smugglers. Noticing the police team, four ganja smugglers fled from the vehicle. police seized 560 kg of dry ganja concealed under paddy husk from the vehicle and nabbed two persons. Those arrested were identified as D Pramod Kumar and B Kailesh, both natives of Odisha. Police said Pramod Kumar works with Odisha Police's Special Operation Group (SOG). Police have registered a case and an investigation is on to nab a few others in connection with the case.
In another incident, Anakapalle district police seized over 1,000 kg of dry ganja and nabbed two persons when they were transporting the cannabis in a vehicle near K Kotapadu in the district. Police have registered a case and an investigation is on to nab a few others.
Ganja packed in aluminum foil to evade cops
Vizag city task force police nabbed two persons for selling the ganja in small packets wrapped with aluminum foil near MVP Colony Rythu Bazaar in Vizag city. Police also seized 6.5 kgs of dry ganja which was packed in aluminum foil. The arrested were identified as K Chena Kesava from Anantapur and G Vishnu Vardhan from Guntur.
Prime accused in the case Challa Rami Reddy managed to flee from the spot. Police said Rami Reddy has been using aluminum foil for packages of the ganja to evade the police raids as the packets look like food packets. He never shared any customer contacts with his friends. He used to make conference calls with the customers. He employed two of his friends to supply the weed to the customers.
