Anakapalle: The Anti-Corruption Bureau on Saturday arrested Kotla Sanni Rambabu, a deputy executive engineer at the Andhra Pradesh Eastern Power Distribution Company Limited (APEPDCL) in the Anakapalle district, for amassing illegal assets that were disproportionate to his known source of income. The ACB officials carried out searches at his residence in Anakapalle and a few other places in Vizag City.

During the searches, it was revealed that Mr. Rambabu and his family owned an apartment that has 11 flats in Gajuwaka, a G+3 building in Gajuwaka, a flat in Sivajipalem, a G+3 building and another G+2 building in Malkapuram, a land measuring around 11 cents at Bhogapuram in Vizianagaram district, a luxury car, around 930 gms of gold ornaments, over 2 kgs of silver ornaments, liquid cash of over Rs. 2.5 lakhs, two bikes, and electronic gadgets.

The preliminary investigation revealed that he is in possession of disproportionate assets approximately worth Rs. 10 crores (as per the market value). Further investigation is in progress and the ACB officials said Mr. Rambabu accepted huge kickbacks from consumers in lieu of official favours. The engineer is being arrested and will be produced before the ACB court in Visakhapatnam, the officials said.
