Anantapur: School correspondent crashes car, kills self; video goes viral
School correspondent started the car and went down a 75-feet deep cliff even as the driver shouted to stop the vehicle

Identified as P Umapathi, he ended his life by crashing his car down a hillock under Bukkarayasamudram Mandal
Locals said Umapathi had gone to Devanikonda hillock near Bukkarayasamudram Mandal headquarters on Monday morning after offering prayers at a small temple. Later he asked his driver to stay put and drove the car himself.
Umapathi started the car and went down a 75-feet deep cliff even as the driver shouted to stop the vehicle. A video of the incident has now gone viral. Umapathi succumbed to his injuries on the spot.
Police rushed to the spot and retrieved the body. The police have shifted the body for post-mortem.
Locals said that Umapathi was facing a lot of financial problems which may have driven him to take the extreme step. Locals are also raising doubts over the driverās role saying why he was capturing the video of the suicide.
Bukkarayasamudram police said they are yet to ascertain the exact reasons for the extreme step. The police said that they did not find any suicide note. Police are examining the mobile phone of the victim for any clues.
