Anantapur: Four people were killed and three others suffered serious injuries when a high-tension wire fell on agriculture workers who were harvesting crops at Dargah Honnur village in Bommanahal Mandal.
On Wednesday, a farmer named Dubbanna was busy loading castor on the tractor when the electric wire snapped. Four people died on the spot and three others sustained injuries. The injured were immediately admitted to Bellary Hospital.
Chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy expressed deep shock over this incident. He announced an ex-gratia of Rs 10 lakh to the families of the deceased. He directed the authorities to provide better treatment to the seriously injured.
The government also suspended ADE, AE, and Line inspector. The AP government has directed the Director of Electrical Safety to submit a report.
Based on the report, the government will take further action on supervisory officers. The government has asked DISCOM to pay the compensation immediately.
