Andhra: Home Minister Anitha cancels parole of gangster A Srikanth, orders probe; two MLAs under scanner

Amaravati: Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha has cancelled the parole of gangster A Srikanth, who is serving a life sentence.

The Minister has also ordered a probe into how the parole was sanctioned without her approval.

The Minister also vowed stringent action against N Aruna, popularly known on social media as the “lady don”, for her alleged involvement in multiple criminal activities alongside her fiancé, Srikanth.

According to the minister, Srikanth’s parole was cleared by the Home Secretary based on the advice of a senior government official and purported recommendations from two MLAs in SPSR Nellore district. However, both MLAs—Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy and Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy—denied issuing any such letters.

Authorities allege that Srikanth and Aruna headed a gang that carried out murders and other offences even while Srikanth was serving his sentence. Aruna is also accused of blackmailing individuals by filing false cases against them. Calling on victims to come forward, Anitha assured that complaints against the duo would be taken seriously.

“Srikanth was allowed parole for 45 days under the YSRCP regime. After a thorough investigation, these criminals will face the harshest punishment. Politicians, police, and prison officials who colluded with them will also be held accountable,” said Anitha.

Aruna Arrested :

In the latest update, Aruna has been arrested by the Kovvuru police for threatening a plot owner. Four days ago, Aruna allegedly made threats to an SI, claiming to be calling from the Home Minister’s office.

She will be produced before the court on Wednesday for further investigation.
