Bhimavaram: A man allegedly stabbed his mother and younger brother to death at their residence on Sunkara Peddaya Street in Bhimavaram.
According to police, the accused, Srinivas (37), attacked his mother, Mahalakshmi (60), and younger brother, Ravi Teja (33), with a knife around 3:30 am on November 10. After the incident, Srinivas reportedly called the police and confessed to the crime.
The victims lived together after Mahalakshmi’s husband passed away during the COVID-19 pandemic. The family’s daughter resides in Bengaluru, while both sons are unmarried and live with their mother.
Upon reaching the scene, police found Mahalakshmi and Ravi Teja dead with multiple stab wounds. Officers said Ravi Teja’s body had over 30 injuries, and Mahalakshmi’s abdomen had been severely slashed, suggesting the attacker continued stabbing them even after their deaths.
During questioning, Srinivas allegedly told police that his mother and brother had locked him inside the house. He reportedly claimed they would return as ghosts to haunt him, indicating possible mental instability.
Police have taken Srinivas into custody and are investigating the case further. Preliminary findings suggest the accused may have been suffering from psychological issues. The bodies were shifted for post-mortem examination, and a case has been registered.
