Visakhapatnam: MVP Colony police have arrested a man for abducting his nephew to recover the money he collected from gullible youth on the pretext of providing jobs in State Bank of India, at Venugonda.
S Pitchaiah,46, had hired five goons to kidnap his 26-year-old nephew S.Ramesh alias Rakesh at Venkojipalem in Visakhapatnam. When they were on way to Guntur, they were arrested by Kadiam police in East Godavari and brought to Visakhapatnam late on Tuesday night.
Police said Rakesh had allegedly collected Rs 18 lakh from unemployed youth in Venugonda promising them jobs in State Bank of India. S Pitchaiah was the point man for money collection.
For the last two years, Rakesh never received phone calls from the victims or his uncle. He often told them that he was on a tour arranging jobs for the youth. On the other side, victims began putting pressure on Pitchaiah demanding their money back.
Unable to bear their pressure, he began searching for Rakesh and finally located him at Venkojipalem in Visakhapatnam.
When Rakesh, wearing Ayyappa dress came to the temple on Tuesday morning, Pitchaiah and his hired goons bundled him into a car and proceeded towards Guntur.
The victim's younger brother Sriram lodged a complaint with the MVP Police. Later Kadiam police intercepted the car and recovered the victim and arrested the abductors.
After getting a transit warrant, the victim and the accused were brought to Visakhapatnam. All the accused were remanded to judicial custody.
Police said Rakesh is a habitual offender and has been accused of cheating twice in the past.
