AP DGP transfers Lithuanian woman's assault case to Disha police station

By Newsmeter Network Published on 10 March 2022 3:17 PM GMTNellore: The Andhra Pradesh director-general of police K.V Rajendranath Reddy has transferred the case regarding the sexual assault of a 25-year-old foreigner to the Disha police station. Two youth who tried to molest the Lithuanian woman were arrested within hours of the crime on 9 March.
The woman appreciated the actions of the police and said she was indebted to the police for arresting the accused within hours of filing a complaint.
In a statement released by the DGP, he said that the case has been transferred to the Disha police station and the district SP has been directed to complete the investigation under the direction of Disha officers within the stipulated seven days and file the charge sheet.
It may be noted that the incident happened on International Women's Day. The woman was travelling in a bus to Bengaluru when the two youth took her to an isolated place in the Rapur forest area of Sydapuram and tried to sexually assault her. After the woman screamed for help, some locals came to help her and the two men fled the spot immediately.
