AP Intermediate Board results: 3 students end lives after failing to clear exams

One of the boy's parents said though they encouraged him to make one more attempt, he took the extreme step.

Visakhapatnam: Three students including a girl died by suicide after they failed to clear the Andhra Pradesh Intermediate Board exams.

Andhra Pradesh Intermediate Board announced the first and second-year results the day before yesterday,

A 17-year-old student, a native of D Gopalapuram village under Santhabommali Mandal in Srikakulam district, left his house on Thursday morning. He died by suicide near Tekkali railway station.

Parents of the student said that their son failed to clear three papers of the first-year intermediate course and slipped into depression. Police retrieved the body from the railway track and shifted it for post-mortem.

In another incident, a 17-year-old girl ended her life at her residence in Trinadhapuram, Visakhapatnam on Thursday evening. Police said she failed to clear some subjects in the first year by a few marks.

Another 18-year-old boy, a resident of Kancharapalem in Visakhapatnam, slipped into depression after he failed in one of the subjects of second-year intermediate. He later ended his room. His parents said though they encouraged him to make one more attempt, he took the extreme step.

Police advised parents to guide students to take academic setbacks in their stride.
