AP native Ujvala Vemuru dies from fall into gorge in Australia
Ujvala slipped and fell some 10 metres down a slope, before plunging a further 10 metres into the waterhole

She was trekking with her friends at Yanbacoochie Falls, Lamington National Park in the Gold Coast Hinterland Waterfall when the tragedy struck.
The student, Ujvala Vemuru, a native of Krishna district in Andhra Pradesh, was staying with her parents Vemuru Maithili and Venkateswara Rao in Australia.
As per the official police statement, on March 2, during the trek, she slipped and fell while taking photos of the place on March 2. The incident happened when Ujvala dropped her camera tripod over a ledge while taking photos and slipped while attempting to retrieve it. Ujvala slipped and fell some 10 metres down a slope, before plunging a further 10 metres into the waterhole. It took rescue crews over six hours to retrieve Ujvalaās body
Vemuru graduated with a degree in medicine from Bond University on the Gold Coast last year. She was given the title of āWAās brightest young mindsā for her exam results in her final year at Willetton Senior High School in 2018.
Following the incident, the Queensland Department of Environment, Science and Innovation warned bushwalkers to stay on marked tracks when visiting the national park. Ujvalaās family members will be taking her remains to her grandparentsā place in Ertakpadu, Unguturu mandal in Krishna district for the funeral.
