Visakhapatnam: A couple from Hyderabad died by suicide at Chaparai Waterfalls, a popular tourist spot close to Araku Valley in the ASR district.

Araku Valley police said the couple was found in an unconscious state near Chaparai and local people took them to Community Hospital. Later they were shifted to King George Hospital where they died on Thursday evening.

They were identified as P Santosh Kumar (32) and P Sunitha (28). They came to Visakhapatnam from Hyderabad last Monday and went to Araku Valley on Wednesday morning. Later they decided to end their lives. Police rushed to the spot and shifted the couple to the hospital.

"Santosh regained consciousness, but Sunitha's condition worsened as she was six months pregnant," circle inspector Demudu Babu said. Both were shifted to KGH in Vizag where they died.

The bodies were shifted to the morgue and their family members were informed. Police suspect that financial constraints might have been the reason for suicide.
