Hyderabad: A retired Army officer was assaulted and robbed of gold and cash worth nearly Rs 50 lakh after a Nepali gang targeted his residence at Gun Rock Enclave under Karkhana Police Station limits.
Insider role suspected
According to police, a Nepali man employed as domestic help at the home of Captain Giri (75) allegedly conspired with four others to carry out the robbery. The group is believed to have planned the break-in based on inside information.
Victim tied up, house looted
The gang reportedly entered the house, attacked Captain Giri with sticks, and tied him up before ransacking the rooms. They escaped with about 25 tolas of gold ornaments along with cash stored in the house.
Neighbours raise alarm
Local residents, hearing sounds of distress, alerted police personnel who rushed to the spot. The injured officer was shifted to safety, and a complaint was lodged detailing the stolen valuables.
Case registered; search underway
Karkhana police have registered a robbery case and launched a search operation to trace the five accused. Special teams are gathering clues and examining CCTV footage from the area to identify the culprits.
