Arson in Eluru is fake propaganda by YSRCP to malign TDP activists: Eluru DSP Sravan Kumar
Eluru: Police today accused YSRCP of spreading a misleading narrative and falsely alleging that TDP workers set fire to Sakshiās office in Eluru
āThe incident of arson in Eluru is nothing but another instance of fake propaganda being spread by the YSRCP to malign TDP activists,ā said Eluru DSP Sravan Kumar.
Addressing a press conference, the DSP said, The fact of the matter is that the building which caught fire on June 10 consists of two floorsāthe ground floor and the first floor. The ground floor houses Damro, a furniture store, while the Sakshi office is located on the first floor.
In the fire incident, some old rexine furniture stored in the godown caught fire. The blaze was extinguished within 10 minutes, causing minimal property damage and no injuries. Importantly, the Sakshi office on the first floor was completely unaffected. Therefore, the claims that the Sakshi office was intentionally set ablaze are not only false but dangerously misleading. No one should fall for this baseless propaganda, he said.
Sravan Kumar also noted that Sakshi Media has no connection to the fire incident in Eluru. This was a furniture shopās godown, he said
He noted that a case has been registered based on a complaint from the furniture store owner whose property was damaged. Police personnel were already working to extinguish the flames when a group of women from Denduluru arrived at the location as part of a protest rally ā an event documented in video footage from the time.
The DSP emphasized, āSakshi has absolutely no connection to the actual fire incident, and the rally was at least 200 meters away when the fire broke out.ā
He also confirmed that reports circulating on social media claiming an attack on Sakshiās office or the burning of Sakshiās furniture are completely false. He warned that strict action would be taken against those spreading misinformation.
DSP also clarified that TDP activists have no role in the incident, and the Sakshi Office incurred zero damage in the incident. Rumors are also rife that Sakshi employees may have self-incited the fire in a desperate attempt to divert attention from the growing public outcry against the YSRCP's governance. The TDP urges the public and the media to be vigilant against such malicious attempts to twist facts and mislead the people.
