Anakapalle: A 34-year-old-woman was allegedly raped and murdered at the SEZ premises under Atchutapuram police station limits in Anakapalli district. Though the incident took place on Saturday evening, it came to light on Sunday when the body of the woman was found in the bushes.
Police said the woman and her husband came to Atchutapuram in search of livelihood leaving their two children at their ancestral home.
Her husband was a daily wage worker at RCL Company of the SEZ while she worked as a cook. They lived in a small shed near the company, where some workers from West Bengal were their neighbors. When her husband left for work on Saturday evening, one of the workers from West Bengal tried to rape her.
Police said she might have resisted following which the man might have murdered her and dumped the body in the bushes. Police have taken Sudan Sarkar from West Bengal into custody.
