Bachupally murder case: Live-in partner kills Nepali woman over pregnancy dispute, arrested
Hyderabad: Cyberabad Police said they have cracked the Bachupally murder case—a woman’s body was found in an abandoned travel bag—within 48 hours of the crime.
The police have arrested a Nepali national who allegedly killed his live-in partner over a pregnancy dispute and dumped her body in a bag.
The victim, a 33-year-old woman, was found abandoned in a deserted colony on June 4, triggering a high-priority investigation led by Balanagar zone police. The police seized the mobile phone of the deceased, the mobile phone of the accused, the travel bag used to dispose of the body and the Nylon thread used in the murder.
Disclosing the case details before the media here on Friday, Balanagar DCP K Suresh said that the deceased was identified as Tara Bohra, a native of Baglung, Nepal, and a resident of Indiramma Colony in Bowrampet.
She had reportedly arrived in Hyderabad on April 15 and had been living with the accused, Vijay Toppa alias Wilson, who worked as a chef at AR Fast Food Centre in Bachupally. The two had connected through Facebook and entered into a live-in relationship, despite Tara being married with two children.
Elaborating further, the DCP said that an argument erupted between the couple in the early morning hours of May 23 over Tara’s pregnancy. In a fit of rage, Vijay allegedly strangled her with a nylon thread, stuffed her body in a large travel bag, and dumped it in an isolated spot in Vijaya Durga Owners Association Colony, Bachupally, before fleeing.
The body was discovered on June 4 by a local watchman, who alerted police. Senior officers, including Balanagar DCP K. Suresh Kumar, IPS, ADCP Satyanarayana, ACP Kukatpally Ravi Kiran Reddy, and teams from the Dog Squad, Fingerprint and Clues Units, SOT, and CCS Balanagar, quickly reached the scene. Five special teams were formed to track down the killer.
Crucial CCTV footage and intelligence inputs led the teams to trace Vijay’s movements. He was located in Bowrampet and apprehended by the Balanagar SOT and Bachupally police on the evening of June 5, around 6 pm. During interrogation, he confessed to the crime. He was formally arrested and produced before the court on June 6 for judicial remand, the DCP said.
