The accused have been identified as Saleh Bin Hafeez Mahrooz, Abubakar Bin Hafeez (21), Ismail Bin Abdul Aziz (19), Jaffer Bin Hawali (32), Baber Hamdi (24), Shaik Majid Al Hasan (21), Ibrahim Mohammad Bin Abdul Aziz al Kaseri (20), and Munasir Amer Barasith (20).
Saleh Bin Hafeez Mahrooz is a construction material supplier and is also involved in the real-estate business. He sold and bought disputed lands. In 2019, he along with Ilyas Nawab started a real estate business. During the course of their business, Ilyas Nawab sold one of the sites without Mahrooz's consent. Later, they settled the issue amicably before the elders but their business fell apart. Since then, there had been some differences between the two men and Ilyas Nawab used to abuse and threaten Mahrooz.
Recently, Ilyas Nawab had occupied an open plot in the limits of the Chandrayangutta police station and fixed CCTV cameras around the area. However, someone stole the cameras and Ilyas Nawab blamed Mahrooz for it. Ilyas Nawab abused him and his family and threatened to kill him.
On 20 March, it was Ibrahim Marooz's birthday and the eight accused gathered at a farmhouse in Al-Jabri colony to celebrate. On the same day, Saleh Bin Hafeez Marooz went to Shaheennagar to purchase a house and while returning, he passed Ilyas Nawab's house. The latter came to know that Mahrooz had passed by his house and called Zakariya Hussain, a mutual friend, and abused Marooz and his family. Meanwhile, Marooz overheard the conversation, took the phone, and the two men started arguing.
Following this, Marooz hatched a plan to kill Ilyas Nawab and sought the help of those present at the farmhouse. A few minutes later, the eight men left the farmhouse and reached the victim's house. They waited for him outside and stabbed him with knives when he came out of the house. They fled the spot leaving Ilyas Nawab severely injured.
In the meantime, Ilyas Nawab called his friend Zakariya who reached the spot and shifted him to Owaisi Hospital where he was declared brought dead.
On 23 March, the eight accused men were arrested and produced before a court for judicial custody.
