Hyderabad: Two persons were arrested for illegally manufacturing and supplying duplicate Karachi mehendi cones.
The sleuths of the Commissioner’s Task Force, South-East Zone Team, Hyderabad, along with Balapur and Afzalgunj Police, who conducted the raids at separate places, seized the machinery and duplicate Karachi mehendi worth approximately Rs 8 lakh.
Case details
The raids were organised on January 13, based on a tip-off, on the premises of a building at Minar Colony, Balapur and SKS Travels and Cargo, Afzalgunj. The two accused were arrested during the raids.
The first accused has been identified as Md Asif (48), a resident of Balapur and the manufacturer of the illegal mehendi cones.
The second accused has been identified as Deepak Kumar (25), a resident of Gowliguda. He is a wholesaler and supplier.
The seized goods involve:
1) Duplicate Karachi Mehendi Cones - 8400
2) Mehendi Filling Machine - 1
3) Mehendi Mixer – 1
4) Heating stoves - 2
5) Weighing Machine - 1
6) Duplicate Mixed Material - 10 drums each contain 20 litres
7) Mehendi Dry Powder – 100 kg
8) Radiant Oxalic Acid to Mix in Mehendi: 5 kg
9) Colour to mix - 2 kg
10) Packing materials
11) Karachi named printed boxes - 200 pieces.
12) Empty cones - 500 pieces
13) Mobile phones - 2
Modus operandi
Md. Asif established a production unit at Minar Colony, and he was manufacturing mehendi cones without any brand name or labelling.
Due to low demand for his mehendi products, he started producing duplicate ‘Karachi Mehendi’ cones in his manufacturing unit, as there is high demand in the market for Karachi Mehendi cones.
He was supplying these duplicate Karachi Mehendi cones to shops in the twin cities and other cities through a wholesaler by the name Deepak Kumar. He transports the products to needy customers in the guise of original products, thereby cheating the public and gaining huge profits.
Based on a tip-off, the two police teams simultaneously raided the manufacturing unit at Balapur and SKS Travels and Cargo at Afzalgunj and apprehended the accused.
A case has been registered against the accused, and further investigation is on.
