Hyderabad: A 20-year-old student was brutally beaten by a group of individuals in the Banjara Hills area of Hyderabad on the night of Friday, when he went to buy haleem. He had been allegedly beaten for not greeting a group of youth sitting in the area.

A complaint has been registered on Saturday night.

The victim identified as 20-year-old Mohd Sabil, went to buy Haleem at Alkareem Hotel on Road No. 10. Sabil was forced to sit on a bike by two individuals named Ismail and Sohail, who took him to Jali ground, also located on Road No. 10.

Around ten persons tied Sabil's legs and hands with a rope and brutally beat him with rods, and sticks. He sustained multiple injuries on his head and back.

With the help of a friend, Sabil managed to reach his home, and his parents took him immediately to Osmania Hospital for treatment.

On Saturday night, Sabil lodged a complaint on Saturday night, stating that the attack was motivated by a grudge held by the perpetrators against him for not greeting them in the area.

The Banjara Hills police have registered a case under sections 324, 341, 143, 148, read with 149 of the IPC.
