Battle against child labor: 16 boys rescued from packaging material unit in Nacharam
The minor children were made to do work from 9.30 am to 9.00 pm and paid Rs.6, 000 to Rs.7, 000 per month. The owner of the company utilized the service of the children for more than eleven hours.
By Newsmeter Network Published on 15 Dec 2021 4:34 AM GMTHyderabad, December 15: Rachakonda Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) rescued 16 child laborers from a packaging material manufacturing unit in Nacharam.
The boys were working at SP High Tech Printers Private Limited in the Medchal-Malkajgiri district.
Hailing from West Bengal, all the children were trafficked and exploited in contravention of the labor laws.
A raid was conducted jointly by AHTU Rachakonda, police along with Childline, District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), Medchal-Malkajgiri District, Bachpan Bachao Andolan, Labour Department, and Nacharam Police.
Sunkari Sudhakar and Sunkari Purnachander Rao were running a manufacturing unit of packaging material like baby boxes, labels (like Fantac Plus), dangles and posters, etc. at SP High Tech Printers Private Limited at IDA Nacharam of Medchal-Malkajgiri district.
The accused were identified as Sunkari Sudhakar (45) and Sunkari Purnachander Rao (46), both owners of the company, and Md. Hasibul Islam (32) and Jalaluddin (20), both labor contractors.
Except, Sunkari Purnachander Rao who is absconding, all others have been arrested.
Hasibul Islam and Jalaluddin, both natives of West Bengal, had brought 16 minor boys from their native village of Uttar Dinajpur district. Both of them were assured a commission of Rs. 1000 on each child per month.

Owners used to hire poor children from other states like West Bengal as laborers. In fact, some of the families who are in poverty and financial crisis also send their children to work.
