20 YO B.Com student held for businessmans murder at Vizag

Visakhapatnam: A 20-year-old student allegedly killed a realtor and decamped with Rs 18 lakh near Ghat Road junction in Vizag.

The victim was identified as 25-year-old T Swami Naidu. The accused has been identified as P Upendra, a second year B.Com student at a Private College in Chodavaram.

Police said Upendra tried to divert the police attention by removing the trouser of the victim and planting a used condom at the crime scene to project as if the murder was the result of sexual misconduct.

Police however cracked the case and recovered Rs 18 lakh cash from the accused.

A native of Jamparla village, T Swami Naidu was running finance and real-estate business. His body with stab injuries was found near an unused water treatment plant at Ghat Road junction on February 6.

Upendra was one of many people who altered the police about the body.

However, police suspected him during routine questioning. Upendra acted smart and even escorted police to the crime scene.

Police said that on February 6, Swami Naidu was carrying a bag containing Rs18 lakh cash. Since Upendra was close to Swami Naidu, he knew about the cash. In the evening, Upendra offered liquor to Naidu and allegedly stabbed him to death near Ghat Road junction.

The accused was arrested on Monday. Later, the court sent him to remand.
