Visakhapatnam: Police arrested two of the four-member inter-state gang for stealing gold ornaments at Madhurawada and Bheemili.

The arrested were identified as Mukesh Shah (40) and Santosh Kumar (33) of Bhagalpur district of Bihar. The two absconding members have been identified as Deepak and Ramesh, all from Bihar.

ADCP (Crimes) D Gangadharam said that the four-member gang came to Vizianagaram from Bihar via Berhampur of Odisha. They stayed in a lodge at Vizianagaram for a couple of days. Deepak later purchased a bike.

On June 2, two of them came to Manam Anjaneyulu Colony in Madhurawada and approached Gangu Gayatri under the pretext of polishing gold jewelry.

The woman gave them a silver anklet for polishing. Impressed, she also asked them to polish her 30 gm gold chain.

They cleverly diverted her attention and stole the gold ornament. Similarly, they resorted to another crime at Narasayyapeta in the Amanam area under the Bheemili police station on June 3. They stole 25 gm gold ornament.

Based on the complaints, police formed a special team and nabbed two of them. Police have recovered the motorcycle and polishing powder. However, the stolen ornaments are yet to be recovered.

Police said the stolen items may be with the two absconding members of the gang. A manhunt has been launched. Previously, Mukesh Shah was involved in cheating cases at Karimnagar in Telangana state.
