Hyderabad: The special operations team (SOT), LB Nagar zone, along with the Bhongir Rural police nabbed a 35-year-old man in the early hours of 1 July and seized 106 kg of ganja from him.
Makka Krishna was transporting ganja from Odisha. Cash Rs. 10,200, a mobile phone, and ganja – all worth Rs. 16 lakhs – was recovered from his possession.
A case has been registered against Krishna under the NDPS Act at Bhuvanagiri Rural police station.
Krishna is a resident of Chintur village in the East Godavari district. He was a scrap dealer. While doing business, he came in contact with Ramu, a ganja peddler. Due to financial problems, Krishna decided to sell ganja to make money.
Meanwhile, Ramu asked him to transport ganja and promised Rs. 20,000-30,000 as commission.
On the morning of 30 June, Ramu handed over 106 kg of ganja (49 packets) to Krishna with instructions to hand over the same to a party on the outskirts of Hyderabad. On 1 July, Krishna reached the Rayagiri crossroads under the limits of Bhongir Rural PS limits and was waiting for Ramu's instruction to hand over the drugs when the police apprehended him.
