Hyderabad:In the biggest cocaine haul in Telangana to date, the Cyberabad police on Thursday seized 183 grams of cocaine worth Rs. 25 lakh and 44 Ecstasy tablets. They also arrested three persons – a drug peddler and two customers.
Mohammed Ashraf Baig (37) was caught with 181gm cocaine while two customers – Rameshwara Sravan Kumar (24) and Gorental Charan Teja (27) – were caught with 1gm cocaine each. The main organizer and supplier, Zude who is from Nigeria and is living in Goa, is absconding.
On 22 December, the special operation team, Madhapur zone, apprehended Rameshwara Sravan Kumar and Gorentla Charan Teja at their residence in Ramky Towers, Gachibowli. Based on the information they provided, the team arrested their supplier Mohammed Ashraf Baig from Tolichowki. The police seized 181 grams of cocaine worth Rs. 25,62,000 and 44 MD Ecstasy tablets worth Rs. 66,000 from Baig.
During interrogation, it was revealed that Baig was an Arabic tutor in Tolichowki. He used to bring cocaine from Goa and sell it in Hyderabad.
In 2021, the Cyberabad police have registered 202 drug-related cases and arrested 419 persons. They also seized 1,770.8 kg ganja, 124 ganja plants, 8.55 ltrs hashish oil, and other drugs like MDMA, opium, Ecstasy pills, and LSD.
