Bike theft ring busted in Hyderabad; 22 motorcycles worth Rs 42 L recovered

Hyderabad: Jagadgirigutta Police have arrested a gang involved in stealing motorcycles across Hyderabad and recovered 22 stolen bikes worth Rs 42 lakh.

The accused were sent to judicial custody on Saturday following intensive investigation by the city’s crime team, said ACP Balanagar, P Naresh Reddy.

Five accused arrested

The police have identified the arrested gang members as: Gollapally Sridhar (26) – Electrician from Addagutta, KPHB, originally from Godusulapeta Village, Jagtial District, Telangana.

Midde Veera Kousik Goud (21) – AC Technician from Allwyn Colony, Kukatpally, originally from Ralli Village, East Godavari District, Andhra Pradesh.

Katta Manikanta (20) – AC Technician from Allwyn Colony, Kukatpally, originally from Murmula Village, East Godavari District, Andhra Pradesh.

Guthula Srinivas (28) – AC Technician from Allwyn Colony, Kukatpally, originally from Pathigondi Village, Kakinada District, Andhra Pradesh.

Shaik Nagur Vali (25) – Businessman from Achampet Village, Guntur District, Andhra Pradesh.

The theft incident

On August 24, 2025, the gang targeted a wine shop in Jagadgirigutta and stole a KTM 250 Duke belonging to Sri Gafoor Raja (35), a software professional from Krishna District, Andhra Pradesh, valued at Rs 60,000.

A case (Cr. No. 878/2025 U/s 305(B) BNS) was registered, triggering an investigation by the Jagadgirigutta Police crime team.

Investigation and Confession

During routine vehicle checks, police intercepted Gollapally Sridhar riding a KTM bike without a number plate in a suspicious manner.

Interrogation revealed that Sridhar, along with his three associates, had committed multiple motorcycle thefts in KPHB, Borabanda, and Allapur police station limits.

Some of the stolen bikes were sold to Shaik Nagur Vali, who acted as a receiver.

Bikes recovered

Police recovered a total of 22 motorcycles, including KTM Duke, Royal Enfield, Pulsar, Yamaha R15, and Honda Unicorn.

Distribution of recovered bikes: KPHB Police Station (8 bikes), Allapur (1 bike), Borabanda (1 bike), and Jagadgirigutta (2 bikes), U/sec 106 BNSS – 10 bikes. The total estimated value of the recovered vehicles is Rs 42 lakh.

The successful operation was conducted under the supervision of DCP K. Suresh Kumar, guidance of ACP P. Naresh Reddy, SHO K. Narshima, and DI P. Narendra Reddy.

The crime staff of Jagadgirigutta PS received accolades for their dedicated efforts in apprehending the gang and recovering the stolen bikes.
