Hyderabad: An ambulance driver was killed when he lost control of the vehicle and hit median barricades at B.N Reddy Nagar X Road.

The deceased has been identified as 35-year-old Mahesh. The incident occurred at 4 a.m. today. Mahesh was heading to Sagar Ring Road from Ibrahimpatnam to attend to a patient.

Since he was speeding, he lost control of the ambulance and collided with the barricades. Such was the impact that the vehicle overturned after hitting the barricade



Later, the ambulance caught fire. There were huge explosions after two oxygen cylinders in the ambulance went off. As a result, three surrounding buildings suffered partial damage.

Vanasthalipuram patrolling police officers rushed to the spot. Mahesh sustained severe injuries. He was rushed to hospital where he was declared dead.

The body was shifted to Osmania Mortuary for post-mortem examination. Preliminary investigations revealed that rash driving led to the accident.

According to Vanasthalipuram Inspector D. Jalender Reddy, a case has been registered under section 304A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and sections 183 and 184 of the Motor Vehicles Act (MV Act).
