Burglary at Saroornagar MeeSeva center, Guntur man held with Rs.1.1L

Hyderabad: The sleuths of Cyber Crime Station in LB Nagar along with Saroornagar police arrested a professional house burglar in the early morning hours of January 27. The apprehended person, identified as Ambati Chakravathy was found moving under suspicious circumstances when the police were checking the vehicles at Saroornagar limits.

The 32-year-old Ambati hails from Dachepally village in Guntur in Andhra Pradesh and was working at Steel Bazar in Saroornagar. Ambati studied till class 10. His parents were engaged in agriculture. In his native village, he was involved in 20 house burglary cases and was arrested by Dachepally police, Narasaraopet Police, Krosuru Police of Guntur district, and Kodada Police, Nekarikallu Police of Suryapet district. In December 2019, he was arrested by the Old Guntur Police and sent to judicial remand. After being released from jail in May 2021, he came to Hyderabad and settled in P&T colony in Saroornagar.

He usually recces the locked houses during day time and at night, he breaks open into the houses and commits theft of gold and silver ornaments, cash and flees away from the spot.

The complainant Baira Shankar (38), a resident of Kodanadarm Nagar in Saroornagar ran a Mee Seva centre at P&T Colony in Saroornagar. On January 25 at around 9 pm, Shankar locked his office and went home. He returned on January 26 at 8:30 am to find the backside window grill broken open and Rs.1,30,00 stolen from the almirah. He registered a complaint at Saroornagar police station on January 26.

On questioning, Ambati confessed to the commission of the crime. A case is registered under section 457, 380 of the Indian Penal Code at Saroornagar police station. The police also seized Rs.1,11,240 from Ambati.
