Caregiver who robbed paralytic patient caught, items worth Rs. 35L seized

Hyderabad: The Kachiguda police, on 2 January, arrested a male giver who had robbed his paralytic employer and stolen gold ornaments and cash worth Rs. 35,00,000. The police seized the stolen materials from his possession within 12 hours of the offence.

The accused is 29-year-old Nanda Kusaraju alias Raju, a resident of East Godavari in Andhra Pradesh. According to the police, in February Raju saw an advertisement in a newspaper for a male caretaker at Barkatpura in Kachiguda. He submitted a fake Aadhar card under the name Nanda Gopal and also changed his Honda Activa vehicle number. His job was to take care of Dr. Vijay Sitharam Kale, a paralytic, and he was to receive a salary of Rs. 36,000.

On 31 December 2020, Raju made a duplicate key of the victim's apartment and almirah. When Dr. Kale was admitted to the hospital and his wife was attending to him, the accused used the duplicate keys to break into the victim's house. He stole gold and silver ornaments and cash all worth Rs. 35,00,000. Chaya Vijaya Kale, the wife of Dr. Kale, filed a complaint about the theft on the night of 1 January.

On Friday, the Kachiguda police received reliable information about the presence of the accused at Hafeezpet and immediately rushed there and apprehended Raju.
