Cell phone snatching gang held in Mehdipatnam; 4 held, phones worth Rs 6 lakh seized

Hyderabad: Four persons of an interstate cell phone snatching gang have been arrested. The police have seized 21 mobile phones worth Rs 6 lakh from them.
The accused have been identified as Anil Kumar Nonia (25), Paran Kumar (25), Deva Kumar (21) and Gourav Nonia (18). They have been sent to judicial remand.
Case details
The sleuths of the crime staff of Mehdipatnam Police Station apprehended the cell phone snatchers on February 11.
The accused persons A1 and A4 hail from Jharkhand State and A2 and A3 from West Bengal. They hatched a plan to work in Hyderabad and commit crimes. Another accused, Sagar Kumar Nonia, allocated accommodation and promised to pay Rs 1000 per day.
Accused would target railway and bus stations
They came to Hyderabad and committed cell phone thefts and snatchings accordingly in busy and heavily crowded places like railway stations, bus stations, etc., and dump those in bulk and handover to Sagar Kumar Nonia for disposal.
Based on a tip-off, the crime staff apprehended the accused persons. On Interrogation, the accused persons confessed that they don’t have lavish income sources for which they approached A5 and committed the offences.
