Police caught three individuals involved in a series of robberies at a gold jewelry store within 16 hours and recovered Rs 24 lakhs.

Hyderabad: The Commissionerā€™s Task Force, South-East Zone Team, in collaboration with the Chaderghat Police, apprehended three individuals involved in a series of robberies at a gold jewellery store within 16 hours of the crime and recovered stolen property worth Rs 24 lakhs.

The accused were identified as Nazim Aziz Kotadia (36), Shoukat Raini (19), a Rapido rider and Waris (18). All are residents of Hyderabad. The seized property included 330.84 grams of gold ornaments, 124.19 grams of silver ornaments, three two-wheelers, two mobile phones, and two face masks.

The series of robberies began on February 14 at Kiswah Jewellers at Akbarbagh, Malakpet, under the jurisdiction of Chaderghat Police Station. The accused, armed with a knife, attacked Shajee Ur Rahman, the son of the complainant, and fled the scene after stealing gold and silver ornaments.

After an examination of CCTV footage, tower dumps, and call data records, it was revealed that the accused used three different vehicles to escape the crime scene, eventually hiding the stolen property at the residence of Nazim Aziz Kotadia.

According to the deputy commissioner of police, South-East Zone, D Janaki, IPS, the crime unfolded after considerable planning. Nazim Aziz Kotadia, noticed the Kiswah Jewellery shop during a previous visit and subsequently involved Shoukat Raini and Waris in the plan to commit theft. Nazim had visited the shop twice as a customer to familiarise himself with its layout.

The successful resolution of the case was conducted under the supervision of DCP D Janaki and involved the collaborative efforts of various law enforcement officials, including the Commissionerā€™s Task Force, the South-East Team, and the Chaderghat Police.
