Chicago robbery: Telugu student from Vijayawada shot dead, another from Hyd injured

The slain has been identified as Devansh, a native of NTR District, Vijayawada. Sai Charan from Hyderabad suffered critical wounds. Another student Lakshman from Visakhapatnam managed to escape from the scene.
The incident occurred on January 22 night when three students were walking to Walmart in Chicago. The three are studying at Governor State University.
According to the reports, the three Telugu students were near a parking lot at 8400-block of South Holland when a dark-colored vehicle approached, demanding their belongings at gunpoint. They stole everything the three Indian students had. When the trio tried to escape, they opened fire.
Sai Charan was hit by a bullet in the chest. He is being treated at the University of Chicago hospital. Devansh was hit on his back and couldn't survive.
According to Sai Charan's parents, he left for the US on January 10, 2023, to pursue MS at Governor State University. "He went to pursue higher studies with a lot of dreams and hopes. We are helpless not aware of the situation ", said Sai Charan's father Srinivas Rao.
Sai Charan is a resident of BHEL LIG Colony, Ramachandrapuram in Sangareddy District. Charan's mother, who is working as a teacher, requested the Telangana government to support them in the situation.
Last weekend, the Chicago police department reported that around 30 people were shot and many of them died.
