Hyderabad: In a coordinated operation, the EAGLE team and Narsingi Police arrested two drug peddlers and seized cocaine worth Rs 7.5 lakh near Manchirevula, Gandipet mandal in Ranga Reddy district.
The accused were caught while allegedly transporting the contraband from Mumbai to Hyderabad.
Trap set near Manchirevula
Acting on specific intelligence, a joint team of Narsingi Police and TGANB officers laid a trap near Manchirevula and intercepted the suspects.
Police apprehended Siram Ananth Kumar (50) and Peruru Veerababu (32), both from Hyderabad, who were found in possession of 107.4 grams of cocaine and two mobile phones. The total seizure is valued at Rs 7.5 lakh. A third accused, Karthikeya Shekar, based in Mumbai, is still absconding.
Weekend party circles were targets
Investigations revealed that Ananth Kumar has been addicted to cocaine since 2017 and turned to peddling to sustain his habit. He confessed to sourcing the drug from Karthikeya Shekar in Mumbai and selling it in Hyderabad through his associate Veerababu.
Police said the duo had been supplying cocaine to a network of users in the city, mainly targeting affluent sections and weekend party circles.
Case Registered
A case has been booked under Crime No. 1945/2025 of Narsingi Police Station under Sections 8(c) read with 22(c), 27A, and 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Efforts are on to trace and apprehend the absconding supplier from Mumbai.
DCP Rajendranagar Yogesh Goutam, IPS, commended the teams for their swift action and reiterated the department’s commitment to curbing the drug menace in Cyberabad. “The police will continue to crack down on all forms of narcotics trafficking. Citizens’ cooperation is vital in eradicating this social evil,” he said.

Cyberabad Police have urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any information regarding drug suppliers or peddlers. The public can share such details via Dial 100 or Cyberabad WhatsApp helpline (9490617444). Police assured that the identity of informants will be kept confidential.
