Jagtial: A man died in a freak accident after he was injured by a knife that was attached to a rooster during a cockfight in Lothanur village under Gollapalli police in Jagtial district.The rooster was taken into custody for protection.
According to the Gollapalli police, the victim, T. Satish, (45), had tied a three-inch knife - also known as "Kodi Kathi" - to the rooster's legs during a cockfight at a nearby temple. However, the rooster tried to escape during the fight and Satish caught it. The rooster accidentally stabbed Satish while it was trying to jump out of his hands, the man suffered injury in his groin. He died before he could reach the hospital and declared brought dead.
"The villagers were holding an illegal cockfight. The organisers are being held responsible for Satish's death. We have booked 15 people who had participated in the cockfight under Section 304 (knowledge that death maybe caused by the act)," Jeevan Balijapelli, the SHO of Gollapalli police station, told NewsMeter.
The police have not arrested anyone as they are on the run. However, they said they are have taken the rooster into custody to produce before the judge as evidence. A constable has been assigned to take care of it.
