Contempt case: AP HC sentences Gajuwaka Tahsildar to 6 months in jail

Visakhapatnam: Andhra Pradesh High Court has sentenced Gajuwaka tahsildar, MV Lokeswara Rao, to six months imprisonment for contempt. Rao rushed to the court on Thursday to seek relief.

Case details reveal that Ajay Kumar Parankusam had constructed a wall under survey no 29/1. But the revenue officials alleged that the land was allocated to East Coast Railway but acquired by Visakhapatnam Steel Plant. They issued notice to Parankusam in 2014

Parankusam approached AP High Court, which stayed the notice. Last year, the tahsildar Lokesawara Rao on the orders of the joint collector demolished the compound wall ignoring the stay orders. The demolition became a big issue as opposition party leaders alleged that the tahsildar acted on the orders of ruling party leaders.

Parankusam later filed a contempt petition in the high court against the tahsildar. The court issued the verdict on Wednesday.
