Cops arrest man cheating persons seeking emergency blood donors
The police said that the accused used to target persons who would reach out to people on WhatsApp and social media platforms looking for people to donate blood and plasma in emergencies

On Thursday, based on credible information, the Special Zonal Crime Team, West Zone, CCS, apprehended Reddy Sandeep, who hails from Vijayanagaram in Andhra Pradesh.
The police said that the accused used to target persons who would reach out to people on WhatsApp and social media platforms looking for people to donate blood and plasma in emergencies.
The accused would call them over the phone and convince them that he, along with his friends, would donate blood/plasma. He would collect the money from them, and after receiving the money, he would not respond.
The police said that the accused had cheated many desperate persons in this manner and collected huge amounts from them. They said that the accused is a habitual offender and has a record of crimes in Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam. He was convicted of similar crimes and was jailed for 11 months to 2 years in multiple cases. The police said that after being released the person Sandeep did not mend his ways and continued to cheat innocent people.
Sandeep was handed over to the Domalguda police station officials who registered a case and began investigation.
Request from the police
The Hyderabad city police appeals to the admins of blood donor groups not to add unverified persons without personal reference to their WhatsApp/Telegram/Facebook and other social media groups. They are requested to verify the current group members and add persons as donors only after thorough verification.
