Couple dies of asphyxiation after fire at house in Hyderabad
Due to the fire, several Diwali crackers that were kept in the residence also exploded

Hyderabad: In a tragic incident, a couple lost their due to asphyxiation while another family member was injured in a fire accident after firecrackers kept in their house here caught fire, police said on Tuesday.
The deceased couple, identified as Heera Mohan Lal and Usha Rani.
The incident occurred late Monday night at their house in the Rein Bazar of Yakutpura when they were preparing food items for the Diwali festival.

All of a sudden sparks from a gas stove fell on the crackers box which burst and the smoke spread to the two-room house due to which the couple died of suffocation, they said based on preliminary investigation.
Due to the fire, several Diwali crackers that were kept in the residence also exploded. Apart from the elderly couple, a 15-year-old girl Shruti who was also present in the house has been hospitalised due to asphyxiation and her condition is stated to be serious, the police said.
A case has been registered and further investigation is on, the police said.
