Hyderabad: A local court here sentenced a man to 14 years in prison on 19 April for sexually assaulting a minor girl in 2017.
On the night of 13 August 2017, the LB Nagar police received a complaint from the victim's 40-year-old father who claimed Kopragadi Sanjay (58) had sexually assaulted his daughter. The man had twin daughters aged six years. On the afternoon of 7 August, while the girl's father was out, Sanjay came into the victim's home and assaulted her, according to the complainant. He threatened her with dire consequences if she told anyone of what had happened.
Sanjay worked in a poultry company in LB Nagar and was originally from Nagpur in Maharastra.
Based on the complaint, a case was registered at LB Nagar police station and Sanjay was arrested and remanded to judicial custody. On completion of the investigation, a charge sheet was filed in court.
During the trial on Monday, Sanjay was sentenced to undergo 14 years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs. 20,000 was imposed against him
