COVID victim's ornaments go missing at Gachibowli TIMS, police lodge theft case
By Newsmeter Network Published on 23 April 2021 2:45 AM GMTHyderabad: Police have registered a case of theft after family members of the 68-year-old woman, who died of COVID 19 at TIMS hospital, Gachibowli, alleged that the deceased's gold ornaments are missing.
Sources said when the hospital management failed to address the family's grievance, they lodged a complaint with the Gachibowli police station. Police later registered a theft case and started an investigation.
According to police, parents of a retired army officer from Attapur had tested positive for COVID 19 and were admitted to the TIMS hospital at Gachibowli on April 9. A few days later, his father was discharged, while his mother continued to receive treatment at the hospital.
However, on April 18, she succumbed to the infection. On April 19, the family members were called to the hospital and the staff handed them over a pouch containing the belongings of the deceased. Later, the body was handed over to GHMC for disposal.
However, family members found that her mobile phone and gold ornaments were missing. When confronted, the staff handed over the mobile phone, but the gold ornaments were not found. They alleged that during admission to the hospital, the woman was wearing gold ornaments.
