Hyderabad: Rachakonda police have transferred Uppal inspector Election Reddy for allegedly tipping off Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) secretary Devaraj Ramachander about the Crime Investigation Department’s (CID) planned crackdown.

HCA Secretary absconds after arrests

The CID is probing allegations of forgery, fund misappropriation, and misuse of office by HCA officials. Last week, it arrested five office-bearers, including HCA president A Jagan Mohan Rao. However, Secretary Devaraj Ramachander went missing soon after the arrests.

Inspector’s call raises doubts

During their investigation, CID officials checked Devaraj’s call records and found that Inspector Reddy had contacted him before he went into hiding. Suspecting that Reddy had alerted him about the arrests, Rachakonda police transferred the inspector.

However, Reddy denied the allegation, stating he had called Devaraj over a law and order issue related to an attempt to demolish a stadium wall. An internal inquiry is underway to ascertain the facts.

CID secures custody for interrogation

On Thursday, the CID took six-day custody of the five arrested HCA officials from Cherlapally jail to interrogate them regarding alleged financial irregularities, forgery, and fund diversion.

Fresh complaint against HCA president

Meanwhile, Telangana Cricket Association general secretary D Guruva Reddy filed a complaint with the CID, alleging that HCA president Jagan Mohan Rao awarded contracts for ticket sales and catering to individuals linked to opposition leaders.

He also sought a probe into financial irregularities at HCA between 2019 and 2022, naming five office-bearers whose roles he wants investigated.
