Customs officials seize foreign currency, Iphones, gold at RGIA

Hyderabad: Customs officials on Monday seized gold, foreign currency, and iPhones worth Rs 29 lakhs from three air passengers at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA), Shamshabad.

The officials seized UAE currency and USD valued at Rs 11.49 lakhs (in Indian currency) from two Sudanese women passengers. Two women were going to Khartoum via Sharjah by Air Arabia flight.

Air Intelligence Unit of the Customs Department detained another passenger who attempted to smuggle in 350 Gms of gold. The seized gold is worth Rs 17.69 lakh. Cases were registered accordingly and an investigation is underway.

In another incident, Customs officials seized nine iPhone 13 Pro worth Rs 8.37 lakh from a passenger who had concealed them in hand baggage and apprehended the passenger.
