Hyderabad: The Rachakonda cyber crime police arrested a cyber stalker on 19 December for harassing women by sending sexually-explicit content and obscene photos and voice messages on WhatsApp and Facebook.

The accused has been identified as 23-year-old Boya Harinarayana of Basthipadu village under Kallur mandal in Kurnool district, Andhra Pradesh. A phone and a SIM card were seized from him.

Harinarayana, a B.Sc (MSCs) graduate from Shankaar's Degree College in Kurnool, used to create several Facebook accounts and chat with people under different names and profiles. He would send abusive messages to them. In August this year, he found a few Facebook profiles, 'kavya lucky' and 'Bhavani Y', and their phone numbers. He started sending messages to those accounts and phone numbers.

The victims told Harinarayana not to send them messages. However, he then started sending obscene and vulgar messages to the victims through his Facebook profile 'Sisira Sisira' and WhatsApp. He also posted some obscene content on Facebook to harass the victim, following which the latter filed a complaint at the Rachakonda cyber crime police station.

During the course of the investigation, the police collected technical evidence and after analysing all technical data and other credible information, the accused was identified and arrested. He was sent to judicial custody.
