Hyderabad: The Cyberabad police on 13 April busted an online human trafficking racket and rescued five women - three women from Uzbekistan and two from Delhi - from Lemon Tree Hotel in Madhapur. They claimed that they had been forced into prostitution by the organizers.
The police also arrested a customer, Manikandan, who worked for an MNC in the city and seized cash and other material from them. Meanwhile, the organizers, Arnav and Prince, who have been running the racket online, are now absconding.
Based on a tip-off, the anti-human trafficking unit along with the Madhapur police raided the hotel on Tuesday. They found that the women had arrived from Delhi by air around three days ago. They were picked up from the airport and dropped off at the hotel where rooms were already booked in their names. They identified themselves as tourists and checked into the hotel.
The women told the police they had been forced into prostitution by the organizers who had lured them with offers of money. The cops also found that the women from Uzbekistan had been in India for a long time ago and were staying in Delhi. They are now verifying their background and visa status for further investigation. The women were shifted to a rescue home.
