Hyderabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) trapped and arrested a Sub-Inspector of Police from Jagadgirigutta Police Station, Cyberabad Commissionerate, for accepting a bribe to extend an official favour.
The accused officer reportedly sought the bribe for releasing the complainantās vehicle and DJ system. At around 2:15 pm on Saturday, SI K Shankar was caught red-handed when he allegedly demanded and accepted a bribe of Rs 15,000 through an associate, identified as Nagender, a resident of Jagadgirigutta.
The cash was recovered from Nagender (A-2), and his left-hand fingers tested positive in a chemical trap laid by the ACBās City Range Unit-1. The act was deemed a dishonest and improper execution of public duty by the officer.
Both K. Shankar (A-1) and Nagender (A-2) have been arrested and will be produced before the Principal Special Judge for SPE & ACB cases at Nampally. Further investigation is ongoing, according to a press release issued by the ACB officials.
