Hyderabad: Cyberabad police arrested a total of eight interstate peddlers in three different cases, and seized 910 kgs of Ganja worth Rs 2.80 Crore in Hyderabad.

He said that the drug peddlers were procuring cannabis from different places in Odisha and supplying the contraband to Maharashtra, Telangana and Karnataka.


Case 1

On Monday, acting on specific information, the sleuths of the Special Operations Team (SOT), Balanagar Zone, along with Jeedimetla police, apprehended two interstate drug peddlers for transporting ganja from Odisha to Maharashtra.

The accused are identified as Jeevan Singh Nain and Golu Ankith Singh, while the other two from the gang are absconding.

The accused, Jeevan Singh, a resident of Haryana, a driver by profession, transports ganja for monitory benefits. He was also previously arrested in the same case.

"After he came out of jail recently. he came in contact with Chandra Shekhar, native of Jeypore in Odisha, and two more. Few days back, Chandra Shekar informed to Jeevan and asked him to visit Odisha for transportation of the dry ganja along with Ankith Singh of Chhattisgarh at large quantity," said the Cyberabad Commissioner.

On Monday, when both the accused persons entered Telangana, the police, during a joint operation, caught them. On verification, it came to know that they had procured it for less price and selling the contraband for Rs 30,000 per kg for needy customers.

Police seized 758 kgs ganja, DCM and mobile phones, all worth Rs 2,35,00,000.

Case 2:

Sleuths of SOT, Rajendra Nagar Zone, along with Shamshabad police, apprehended five interstate drug peddlers and seized 144 kgs of ganja and mobile phones, all worth about Rs 43,20,000.

The primary accused, Balu (A1) and Pradeep Fakira Sirasat (A2), of Maharastra, who are currently absconding, have been running the illicit transportation of ganja from the agency area of Berhampur village of Odisha State to Beed district of Maharastra state to since many years. A-7 Munna from Odisha procures the ganja from local ganja cultivators around the Berhampur agency area and supply to ganja sellers in different states.

Accordingly, A1 and A-2 contacted the A7 Munna for procurement of ganja. On the instructions given by Balu, five members of the gang went to Berhampur by train and met with Munna at Berhampur of Odissa.

Under the disguise of bangle sellers, 72 ganja packets wrapped with a brown tape were covered underneath bangles in a bag and were travelling in a private vehicle. Feared of police checks, they planned to shift to public transport. On receipt of specific information, the police caught them at Tondupally village while they were waiting to head towards Beed in public transport.

Case 3:

Sleuths of SOT, Madhapur Zone along with Chandanagar Police apprehended one interstate ganja peddler and seized 8 kgs of ganja, and a mobile phone, all worth Rs. 2,40,000.

The accused Shivaji Kashinath Chowhaan from Bidhar, Karnataka came to Hyderabad in 2019 for labour works.

On Monday, the joint operations of SOT Madhapur along with local Police of Chandanagar caught the accused Shivaji Kashinath Chowhaan at Nalagandla X Road, while he was trying to sell the ganja.

The accused procured the said dry ganja from Kantia (a ganja supplier), resident of Patancheru who is absconding. On verification, it came to know that they have procured it for less price and selling the contraband Rs 30,000 per kg.
