Cyberabad police bust MDMA racket ahead of New Year, two arrested in Miyapur

Hyderabad: The Miyapur Police apprehended two drug peddlers and seized 10.5 grams of MDMA near Miyapur X Road in the Cyberabad limits, as part of their crackdown ahead of New Year celebrations.
Tip-off leads to swift action
Acting on credible intelligence from a reliable source, Miyapur Police swung into action after learning that two individuals were illegally possessing MDMA for sale to prospective customers in the area.
A team was immediately dispatched to Miyapur X Road, where the suspects were intercepted and taken into custody.
MDMA procured from Mumbai
During interrogation, the accused revealed that they had procured the MDMA from Mumbai on December 27. The narcotic substance was intended to be sold in Hyderabad during the New Year season to make quick monetary gains, police said.
Case registered under NDPS Act
A case has been registered as Crime No. 1957/2025 under Sections 8(c) read with 20(c) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The accused were formally arrested, and the contraband was seized as part of the investigation.
Accused identified
The arrested individuals have been identified as Kethavath Ravi (28), a mason, and Jerpula Ravi (35), an auto driver. Both are residents of Maharashtra.
Probe to track supply chain
Police said further investigation is underway to trace the source of the MDMA supply and to identify other links in the drug trafficking network operating across States.
The operation was carried out under the supervision of Ritiraj, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Madhapur Zone, Cyberabad, who reiterated that strict vigil and enforcement will continue to curb drug peddling during the festive season.
