Hyderabad: The Cyberabad Cybercrime Police busted a pan-India cybercriminal network, detecting 11 cybercrime cases and arresting 15 offenders during a focused crackdown between July 29 and August 4.

The arrests were made from different States, reflecting the wide geographic spread of the cybercrime operations.

Trading frauds dominate case load

Of the total cases, a majority, nine were related to online trading frauds, resulting in 12 arrests. Police said the accused had duped victims by offering fake investment opportunities, promising high returns through manipulated trading platforms.

Two more cases were related to gaming and business fraud, leading to the arrest of three individuals involved in misleading schemes and digital deception.

Breakdown of offences

According to officials, the week-long operation led to the following case breakdown:

Trading Fraud: 9 cases, 12 arrests

Gaming Fraud: 1 case, 2 arrests

Business Fraud: 1 case, 1 arrest

Total: 11 cases, 15 arrests

The arrested individuals were part of well-organised syndicates operating across State lines. They used various digital tools to target unsuspecting citizens, often impersonating company representatives or financial advisors.

Other accused being tracked

During the investigation, the Cybercrime Police seized several items used in the execution of these crimes.

These include 14 mobile phones, 13 SIM cards, 8 debit cards, 4 proprietorship firm stamps, an Aadhaar card and a PAN card. Officials stated that the seized materials will aid in tracking down further links in the network and identifying additional victims.
