Hyderabad: Cyberabad Police have deported as many as 23 foreign nationals found illegally staying in India after a surprise raid on a farmhouse in Bakaram village, Rajendranagar zone.

The operation followed credible intelligence about a birthday party organised without permission, with loud music, on the night of August 14.

Party raid helps find 51 foreign nationals

Rajendranagar Police, assisted by the Special Operations Team (SOT) Shamshabad, inspected the farmhouse around 10 pm and found 51 foreigners, including 14 men and 37 women, participating in the celebration.

Those detained included nationals from Uganda, Nigeria, Liberia, Botswana, Kenya, Cameroon, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Ghana and Malawi.

36 found overstaying without valid documents

Verification revealed that 36 individuals, including seven men and 29 women, were staying in India without valid passports, visas or legal documents.

Following the intervention of the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO), Hyderabad, movement restriction orders were issued, and the detainees were shifted to various detention centers.

Deportation and ongoing repatriation

Out of the 36, a total of 23 nationals (22 Ugandans and one Sudanese) have been repatriated so far. Twenty possessed valid passports and exit permits, while three were issued One-Time Travel Documents (OTDs) through their embassies in Delhi.

Efforts are continuing to repatriate the remaining nine. Six have already received OTDs and are expected to leave within a week. The remaining six—five Ugandans and one Cameroonian—will be deported once the required permissions are cleared.

Advisory to foreigners and landlords

The Cyberabad Police have urged all foreign nationals in India to keep their passports and visas updated and renew them promptly if expired.

Landlords renting accommodation to foreigners have been asked to verify documents before letting out premises, and to recheck the papers of current tenants.
